I have never been one for praising unnecessarily, much less giving a testimonial for a product. However, in the case of the Empower Wedge, I will happily and wholeheartedly extol the virtues of its use and results.  When introduced to the Empower Wedge over a year and a half ago, I immediately understood the mechanics and was impressed at the science behind the design. I bought one on the spot. Having used it 5 days a week since then, I can truthfully say that it is the first time I have ever felt successful at working out.  I am finally self-motivated in working towards my goals because I feel such immediate results. The health benefits of the wedge are legion… herniated discs quieted, back pain vanished, like never before activation of my abdominal muscles when used for exercise, my back has never felt stronger and more stable and neither have I …one could go on and on. When I was introduced to the Empower Wedge, I wasn’t sure if it would benefit me. However, using the wedge has enhanced my workout ten-fold and it has helped my back tremendously! I get on my Wedge every day, usually at the end of a busy day, for about 10 minutes. I have had no lower back pain for the past year. I get on my Wedge after a long drive, a weekend at camp (yes I bring it with me), after working in the garden, sometimes I even start my day by unloading before a particularly hectic day. It took a few weeks of getting used to it, but I am so glad I was introduced to the Empower Wedge. I encourage anyone new to using the wedge to keep at it. The rewards are countless.

My wonderful back therapy. Actually it is a mind therapy. Can’t wait to get through my program where I use the wonderful Wedge at the end. I always save passive lying for the end of my workout to reward myself for the effort required. It is the most therapeutic assistant I have ever experienced. Once I place my spine in the proper position my heart rate immediately drops to 60 and I begin to feel a sense of wonderful relaxation and peace.  Ten minutes and my back, brain and body are once again calm. The Wedge came into my life and it has changed it significantly. I’m a musician in the NYC subways, I lug a bag filled with EQ up and down stairs, and then play a guitar that torques my body for 3 hours straight, of course my back takes the punishment. Since I have back issues, I have tried everything from Acupuncture to Chiropractic to Massage. I am a person who enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing and running. Prior to using the wedge I have always tried to improve my ability in these areas by working out with weights and practicing yoga, but nothing has strengthened my core like the Wedge.

I have incorporated the wedge in my daily exercise program and have developed a stronger core than I ever thought possible. I never realized how much a stronger core would affect my abilities, and the wedge has increased my core strength in a way nothing else has.

The wedge has helped me keep my hips closer to the wall relieving the weight off my arms while rock climbing. It has been easier to climb at steeper inclines and more overhangs. I have been able to run and hike longer distances than ever before. As I add more difficult exercises to my wedge program, it seems there are endless ways to work with the wedge that will strengthen my core and enhance my abilities even more.  Not to mention, I bring my wedge with me everywhere I travel, even to Nepal!

I just wanted you to know how glad I am to be taking your Empower class. I am a beginner runner that had gotten injured. I was looking for an exercise class or something to keep me active until I could run again. After taking the Empower class and using the wedge, I was amazed at the results. My core has gotten stronger. I use to have back problems, but I have not had one back problem since I started taking the class. Also, I recently started running again and I feel so different than the first time I began running. I feel so much stronger and I am running faster than I ever did before. I have been been attending Pilates classes regularly for nearly ten years. I love how I feel walking out of class. However my back problems although improved always seemed to be nagging and lingering. Sometimes as soon as a few hours after class my back would start acting up again. I did not however want to give up Pilates. After meeting Amy (I was on the Cape for a few weeks last summer) and learning about the MECA Back Wedge, I had an ah ha, moment. It all made sense! The classes in which we did lots of flexion based exercises such as, Rolling like a ball, Roll ups and Roll overs although feeling good at the time, always got my back going that night. The solution was simple. I now bring my wedge to class and perform all the exercises on the wedge, making substitutions for the exercises that cause me to posterior pelvic tilt (although my teacher is doing less and less after I told her what I had learned). I didn’t have to give up the class and the wonderful group of woman that I love to see. Not to mention, my back has not bothered me since I began using the wedge. What a win, win situation! The entire class, including my Pilates teacher can’t get over how well I am doing and how great I feel. They are completely intrigued by my wedge so much so they want to convert the entire class to Pilates on the Wedge. Thank you, Empower!

For the past 12 months I have seem drastic results in my abdominal muscles since using the Wedge. I am a mother of three young children and have had 2 c-sections. Since doing stomach exercises on the wedge, I have seen results like I never imagined. The “pouch” I once had, is almost gone and my stomach is almost flat!!!!! While doing traditional crunches I would always have to use my hands to support my neck, because I would experience severe pain and weakness in my jaw and my neck. I no longer feel this weakness and can complete all exercises without any discomfort. Not only does the wedge support my lower back, but it also provides me the ability to use a full range of motion utilizing my ab muscles for all exercises. I would recommend anyone who does traditional “sit-ups” to use the wedge because it elevates all strain from your lower back and neck and provides the support you need in order to work your abs correctly, efficiently and effectively.
